The National Ocean Racing (Surfski) Race in Policastro Bussentino, scheduled for April 25–26, 2026, is one of the most technical and scenic stops on the Italian circuit. Hosted by the Associazione Polisportiva Bussentino, it serves as a critical selection trial for the Italian National Team.

Event Overview

Race Format: A high-level Long Distance race (approx. 15–18 km) for Senior, U23, and Junior categories, alongside the Italian Master Championship.
Disciplines: SS1 (Single Surfski), SS2 (Double), OC1, and OC2 (Outrigger Canoes).
The Course: The Gulf of Policastro is famous for its thermal winds. The race typically starts from the main beach, navigating the deep blue waters toward Scario or Sapri, depending on the wind direction to maximize "downwind" surfing conditions.

2026 Significance

Coming just one month after the Naples ScugnizzoRun, Policastro is the mid-season "litmus test." Coaches use this race to finalize the ranking for the European Championships in Brest and the World Championships in Spain later in the year.

Logistics

Location: Via Lungomare, Policastro Bussentino (SA).
Travel: Easily accessible via the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway or the local train station (walking distance to the club).
Atmosphere: It is renowned for its hospitality, typically concluding with a communal "Pasta Party" for all athletes and staff.
